Que no te digan … Que no te cuenten

Growing up recuerdo que mis parientes siempre me decían,” Don’t drink coffee to young porque no podrás crecer.” De grande mi madre would often remind me not to drink coffee to late at night porque perderria el sueño.

So, the question is who is right and who is wrong when it comes to coffee myths and facts? I have combined some popular myths to understand que es real y mentira.

Not an addiction just habit @giphy

Myth #1 Cafecitos are addictive:

As an avid coffee drinker, I find it easy to not drink coffee if I simple choose not to while other people ni siquiera puede pensar en ir un día sin una taza. So, is coffee addictive?

Well no y si, because people who drink coffee often have become highly dependent of something they have done routinely and breaking this habit is more difficult than the dependency of drinking the coffee itself.

If you have been drinking cafecitos todos los dias, stopping cold feet can cause headaches, fatigue, and difficulties concentrating. These traits are signs of breaking the habit y como unas personas suelen decir,” Usted está pasando through withdrawals.” But don’t worry you will not need to join a coffee addiction program because in a few days you will adjust to no longer drinking coffee out of habit.

Myth #2 Drinking coffee at night te causa insomnio

Esto depende de cada persona, my querida abuelita drank up to three cups a day and had coffee before bed. Coffee never affected her sleep.

Although it is recommended to consume coffee six hours before you plan to go to bed to allow the caffeine to exit your system, el café no te causará insomnia si no eres sensible a la cafeína.

Tengan en mente que el café can cause different side effects on none frequent drinkers with lower tolerance levels for caffeine.

Myth 3# Coffee helps a ponerte sobrio:

It turns out that coffee and alcohol mixed together puede causar más daño que ayuda.

Studies conducted by Behavioral Neuroscience show that although alcohol reduce los sentimientos de ansiedad, coffee relaxes the drinker removing awareness and fear from the individual and not allowing them to feel alert.

Esta combinación no es recomendada, therefore coffee should not be used to sober up a una persona que se haya tomado unos cuantos tragos de mas.

5’11 and proud of it

Myth 4# El café stunts your growth:

Well if this was the case algo salió muy mal con migo because I am 5’11 standing proudly every inch and coffee didn’t seem to slow down my growth one bit.

Harvard Health debunks this myth and states that coffee should not be blamed for the cause of osteoporosis.

A healthy consumption of vitamin D and calcium will assist in that department leaving coffee in the clear and my relatives in a bad man’s tales que creí por muchos años.
